Perched high in the hills of the sprawling Negev Desert, boasting stunning vistas much unchanged since biblical times, Six Senses adds a new string to its already impressive portfolio with this hideaway retreat designed to nurture and reawaken lost senses. Being just 4 hours by road from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and even closer to the mystical wonders of Petra and the Dead Sea, Six Senses Shaharut offers the perfect location from which to explore the many wonders of modern and ancient Israel and the surrounding regions.
The resort features 60 suites in total, all inspired and crafted from local materials and methods and designed to blend seamlessly into the local scenery and topography. Rooms are tastefully decorated with colour palettes based on the natural Negev desert pigments and furniture and art sourced from local artisans.
The Six Senses approach to dining is strongly in evidence here. The philosophy of locally sourced fresh produce pervades the menus which combine the best of Israeli and Mediterranean dining. Many ingredients are either grown on site or at the nearby kibbutz. Although the resort is not kosher, respect is paid to the local culture, so neither pork nor shellfish is to be found on the menus.
The spa comprises 7 treatment rooms in total, as well as single sex saunas, steam rooms and hammams. The spa menu offers a variety of signature treatments, traditional therapies and personalised programmes. This truly is the place to get away from the buzz of modern life and to reconnect with one’s forgotten senses.
Of course, for those looking for a touch more adventure, there are a plethora of activities on offer - including an abundance of hiking trails, off road 4x4 adventures, star gazing, learning about life on the kibbutz, as well as day trips to the Dead Sea and beyond.
