The Exclusive Island of Mustique

Mustique 5 star resortMany holiday destinations claim to be exclusive, but few live up to the name as much as Mustique does. Mustique is a privately owned island in the West Indies, and covers just 2.2 square miles. The island is owned by the Mustique company, which is made up of the islands home owners. There are approximately 10 private villas available to rent there, as well as a hotel called the Cotton House. Due to its location and situation, it is a favourite holiday destination of the rich and famous, and such notable people as Amy Winehouse and Jeremy Clarkson have take vacations there over the years. Even the Queen has taken a holiday there!

Guests who choose to stay in a holiday rental villa in Mustique are in for a real treat. There are a wide range to choose from, with two bedroom villas through to nine bedroom villas, and due to the size of the island, they are never more than a few minutes away from the beach. Each villa also comes with staff which include a cook, maid and gardener, who are there to cater for the guests needs. Each of the luxury villas has a swimming pool, TV, internet access and other mod cons. Some even have private spas, tennis courts, and in one case, even a golf course!

Mustique VillasA holiday in Mustique can be as social or as private as one desires. Many people are content to spend their time at the villa, enjoying the wonderful weather for which this part of the world is renowned. Others like the social interaction, and on Tuesday nights, everyone gathers at a cocktail party hosted at the Great Room in the Cotton House. This can be a great opportunity to network with other people, and find out when the next house party is. House party's both large and small are a popular feature of the island, and it seems that there is always one happening somewhere!

A full range of leisure activities await those that choose to take a holiday in Mustique, and scuba diving, golf, horse riding, tennis and volleyball can all be enjoyed there. Families taking a vacation with kids are also catered for, and the island has a playground (if the beach should prove not to be enough!). The golf and equestrian centre also run kids classes and clinics, enabling them to both learn and have fun at the same time.

A holiday in Mustique can be taken at any time of year, as the average temperature measures between 18 and 32 degrees. The rainy season runs from May to November, and this causes the flora and fauna to bloom into spectacular colours during this period. Many people from Europe and North America choose to visit between November and April though as a way of escaping the long, cold, dark days of winter.
